How to install an eSIM on Android

Got your eSIM QR? Installing it on Android takes a couple of minutes. Here's the flow — add the SIM, scan the QR, and switch on roaming for the travel line. Menu names differ between Pixel, Samsung and other brands, but the steps line up.

  • No KYC
  • No account
  • Crypto only
  • QR in minutes

Before you start

  • An eSIM-capable Android phone — most Pixels (3+), Galaxy S20+ and other recent models.
  • A Wi‑Fi connection (installing the profile is a download).
  • Your eSIM QR — by email or from order lookup using your tracking code.
  • Easiest done before you travel, while you still have Wi‑Fi.

Install it in three steps

  1. 1

    Open Add eSIM

Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM (Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM). Tap 'Download a SIM instead' if prompted.

  2. 2

    Scan the QR

Point the camera at the QR from your confirmation. If you need to type it, choose 'Enter code manually' and paste the activation code.

  3. 3

    Download & name

Let the profile download, then give the SIM a name like 'Travel'. It now appears alongside your home SIM in the SIM manager.

Turn it on when you arrive

A travel eSIM connects by roaming onto local networks, so you have to allow it. After you land:

  • Open SIM settings and select the travel eSIM.
  • Turn ON Roaming for that SIM (expected for a travel plan — no extra charge, the plan already covers the destination).
  • Set the travel eSIM as the Mobile Data SIM, and turn off mobile data on your home SIM so it doesn't roam by accident.
  • If your phone didn't set the APN automatically, add the APN from your plan details. Then give it a minute to attach.

Troubleshooting

  • No data? Make sure the travel eSIM (not your home SIM) is the Mobile Data SIM and that Roaming is ON for it.
  • Still offline? Toggle Airplane Mode on and off to trigger a fresh network search.
  • Connected but slow/no internet? Check the APN matches your plan details; an incorrect APN is the usual culprit on Android.
  • QR won't scan again later? eSIM profiles generally install once — keep your tracking code until the plan is working.

FAQ

Which Android phones support eSIM?+

Most recent flagships do — Google Pixel (3 and newer), Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer (and recent foldables/Notes), and many other 2020-onward devices. The quickest check: open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs and look for 'Add eSIM' or 'Download a SIM instead'. If it's there, you're supported. Menu names vary by manufacturer.

Where is the eSIM option on Samsung vs Pixel?+

On Pixel it's Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM. On Samsung it's Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM (or 'Add mobile plan'). The wording differs by brand and Android version, but you're always looking for an 'Add eSIM' / 'Download SIM' entry under network or SIM settings.

I installed the eSIM but have no data. What now?+

Check three things: (1) the travel eSIM is set as the Mobile Data SIM, (2) Roaming is turned ON for that SIM (travel eSIMs connect by roaming onto local networks — this is required and won't cost extra, the plan covers it), and (3) the right APN is set if your phone didn't configure it automatically. Toggling Airplane Mode often kicks it into life.

Do I need Wi‑Fi to install the eSIM?+

Yes. Adding the eSIM downloads a profile, so you need a working connection (Wi‑Fi is easiest) at the moment you scan the QR. Install at home before you travel, then enable the line on arrival.
